Learn Spanish Language in Barcelona (2025)

1. Spanish Courses in EOI Barcelona 

What are they?
These are unofficial courses of 30 or 60 hours, in morning and/or afternoon sessions (depending on the language), organized by the Center’s Specific Offering Department outside of the official programs. They are not equivalent to regular courses (of a minimum of 130 hours, which take place over the course of an academic year).

Price
60-hour courses: €295.00 + €30.00 in additional resources
30-hour courses: €175.00 + €15.00 in additional resources

Duration
Courses can be 2 or 4 hours daily (depending on the language), from Monday to Friday, from June 30 to July 18.

Courses are 100% in-person.

Registration
Starting May 22, 2025, online by clicking here.

Registration is online and direct; there is no lottery to access the courses, and payment is made immediately by credit/debit card.
Registration will close as soon as available spots are filled. After this time, registration will only be on the waiting list.
If spots remain, registration will be open until June 20 at 11:59 PM.

Essential documentation for registration

It is essential that you attach a scanned copy (in PDF or image format, maximum size 2 MB) of the following documentation upon registration:

1. Passport, National Identity Document
2.Proof of language level (registration for those who cannot prove their level and must take a test will not be final until the teacher approves. If the student does not have the appropriate level, the school will refund the registration fee)
3.Relevant supporting documentation, in the case of a discount (50%) or exemption from paying the course tuition fee (they will only have to pay the amount corresponding to the additional resources)

Minimum age:
14 years (to be completed before December 31st of this year), except in the case of English, where you must be 16 years old if it is your first foreign language at school.

Program
The summer course programs are based on the standard EOIBD levels (A1, A2, B1, B2.1, B2.2, and C1, equivalent to the respective levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), but are tailored as much as possible to the profile of each group. It is not always possible to offer all levels in each language in the summer courses.

Summer Course 2025
Duration – From June 30th to July 18th (60 hours), Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Placement Test
All students, except absolute beginners and those with an official certificate, are required to take a placement test.

Assessment and Certification

The following criteria will be taken into account for assessment:

class attendance
active participation in the activities
submission of a minimum of 80% of the assignments
Summer courses entitle students who have participated in 80% of the course to:

a certificate of proficiency: for students who have passed the course.
a certificate of attendance: for students who have met the participation requirement but have not achieved the course objectives.
These certificates do not have the same value as certificates for official courses (annual or quarterly). Therefore:

there is no official recognition
it does not allow automatic progression to the next level of an official course
it does not guarantee a place on an official course.
Some universities in Catalonia recognize some of these courses as elective language credits. Contact the registrar’s office of your faculty to confirm this recognition.
The courses are pending recognition as continuing education activities by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Additional Information
Courses are pending authorization. If this is not obtained, the school will notify the student and refund the amount paid.
The School reserves the right to cancel a course if the minimum number of students is not reached.
If the student withdraws before the course begins, for justified reasons, the registration fee will be refunded after deducting the administrative registration fee (€55). If no administrative fees have been paid, the amount paid will be refunded except for the 15% administrative fee. No refunds will be issued once the course has begun.
The registration fee will only be refunded if the EOIBD (Spanish Agency for International Development) must cancel a course.
In the case of an exemption, if the student does not attend a minimum of 65% of the course attendance, they will incur a penalty and will not be able to enroll free of charge in any special course for two years.

2. Universitat Pompeu Fabra Spanish program

Their Spanish Program is a program that offers face-to-face Spanish language courses (depending on the term). This program is organized in different courses of 30 hours throughout the academic year which everyone over the age of 16 is eligible to attend. On successful completion of a course, you will receive a UPF certificate of the level you have completed and you will be able to enrol on the higher level of the next course you take. Their Summer Spanish Program: a two-week face-to-face intensive course in July. The Summer Program is a two-week intensive course specially designed to provide intensive language training to people who wish to improve their language skills in a short period of time. Furthermore, students will be able to enjoy the unique summertime atmosphere of the city of Barcelona.

3. Universitat de Barcelona Spanish language and culture courses

General Spanish language course (80 h)

Spanish courses are adapted to the levels in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and programmes are based on the Cervantes Institute Curricular Plan (PCIC). In the classes, work on grammar points is closely associated with language practice, in a communicative, dynamic, flexible framework.

Students will be put into groups at the five language levels, through a Spanish level test taken at the start of the course.
