Where are the most affordable French language schools in France for international students?

You have two broad options. Either, you take a course at a private language school, or, and this is the far cheaper option (as it is heavily subsidised), you can enrol in the FLE department of a French university. I’ve done both. In my experience, the quality of the teaching was better at the university whereas the facilities were nicer at the private language school.

Find here all information about Budget French courses in France for foreigners – You can book cheap French courses in Paris or affordable French immersion semester programs. For all accommodation and price details – visit the website of the school. The university in Nice (Université Côte d’Azur) offer language classes. I know they offer summer classes, as well as full semesters (that’s how I learned French), but I’m not sure what the dates are. In any case it’s probably the cheapest you’ll find.

I selected 3 French language schools in France at low cost:

EasyFrench in Montpellier: The Mediterranean Magnifique

For those whose spirit yearns for sun-drenched sophistication and a vibrant student city, Montpellier offers an irresistible proposition. EasyFrench, nestled in the historic center, is renowned for providing top-tier French language courses at competitive rates. Their Intensive French Course (20 lessons per week), meticulously designed for swift progression in a lively international environment, can be secured from as little as €170 per week. For a more immersive experience, a four-week program would amount to approximately €680, a truly judicious investment for an elegant Southern French linguistic sojourn. They also offer accommodation options, with student residences starting from around €165 per week.

Centre International d’Antibes (CIA), in Antibes: The Riviera Rarity

Should your soul be drawn to the glamorous allure of the Côte d’Azur without the exorbitant price tag, the Centre International d’Antibes presents an unparalleled yet exceptionally affordable linguistic journey. This established institution is a rarity on the Riviera, offering a subsidized “Cheap French Course” to promote the French language. Their Standard Course (typically 20 lessons per week), known for its high pedagogical quality, starts from €265 per week, including excellent tuition and often comfortable accommodation options in their student residences. While slightly higher than some inland options, for the sheer privilege of a long-term stay on the French Riviera, this represents extraordinary value.

ACCORD Language School in Paris: The Capital’s Clever Choice

For the connoisseur who simply must experience Paris, the ACCORD Language School provides a surprisingly accessible entry point to the capital’s linguistic landscape. While Paris can be costly, ACCORD is celebrated for offering cheap French courses that do not compromise on quality, often found in their afternoon programs. For instance, their Intensive French Course PM2 (20 hours per week in the afternoon), designed for diligent learners, can be secured for approximately €295 per week for short stays. However, for longer commitments, the prices become significantly more appealing: a four-week program could reduce the weekly rate to around €255, totaling approximately €1020. This makes the dream of absorbing French in the heart of Paris a remarkably attainable and sophisticated reality.

So, where is the best place in France to study French as a foreign language?

I’m not even sure why it has to be in France. You can go to Belgium, Luxembourg, or Switzerland as well. Outside Europe, French is spoken in some parts of Canada, some parts of the Caribbean. In French-speaking Europe, there are numerous French language schools. Alliance Française is probably the most famous one, but there are numerous other schools as well. Also check Cours de Civilization et Lange Française de la Sorbonne, Paris. (Courses in French language and civilization at the Sorbonne, Paris). The French language and culture for foreign students program at the Sorbonne is excellent, and relatively easy to attend.
